Subject:                                     The more we save the less we cut

Good Morning All,

In February the District initiated an early purchasing cut off to help mitigate a worsening financial picture. The purpose was to have everyone look at what was needed for the spring and summer semesters and delay other expenditures if possible. Our purchasing trends went from $1M a month in the Fall to $2.2 in January February and March. This is not the desired trend. From today please make sure that all purchases are absolutely necessary for class offerings and/or operations to the end of the year. The more we save the less we have to cut.

The following items are all that will be honored:

·         Spring events or tournaments

·         Summer courses

·         Categorical/Grants

·         EMERGENCIES (describe the negative impact if not purchased)

Please consider carefully before purchasing but if you need to, make sure it falls within one of these categories and mark the top of all rec’s .  All rec’s still require VP signature.

Do not submit reimbursements requests for anything other than travel and conference. They will not be honored.

This message will go out to the general community tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this,

Joanne Schultz,

Dean of Business
